Dressing Style:Wendy’s wardrobe consists of mostly second hand and threadbare clothing. She likes to look cute but she is careful about how much she spends, generally shopping at second hand stores. She prefers jeans and sweaters, but she does occasionally feel like putting on a skirt. She always has long sleeved shirts on though, it’s all she buys. Every one of her shirts has a little tear in the sleeves so that she can stick her thumb through it and keep the sleeves where she wants them. While she doesn’t really mind the uniform, since even second hand it makes her look a little more normal, she prefers to wear her own clothes. She has a fairly impressive collection of beanies and she is a sneakers sort of girl.
Face Claim:Selena Gomez
General Appearance: Wendy is of average height with an olive skin tone that luckily remains clear of blemishes. She has thick dark hair that grows fairly quickly so for the moment she has it cut to her shoulders, knowing by the end of the year it will probably be considered long. For the most part, she looks fairly approachable unless she doesn’t like someone, then she looks like a stuck up ice princess. Her smile has been described more as cute and mischievous than anything so she generally smirks, feeling it’s less little kid like. Wendy has a few scars she keeps hidden, including a few almost faded cigarette burns on her arms. She has some darker scars on her back but most of these are from when she was a kid, nothing new within the last few years.
Likes: Singing, Cars, Dandelions, Sarcasm, and BeaniesGeneral Character Traits: Wendy is a strong young woman. She has been through a lot but can still keep a smile on her face. She is independent, allowing no one to do anything for her that she can do for herself. She is perfectly capable of taking care of herself and gets irritated when she feels someone is trying to force her into going with their decisions. She’s not one to go to others when she has a problem, only trusting in herself. She is an honest person, she doesn’t like to lie as much as she doesn’t like being lied to. The only thing she has ever lied about is her home life when she was a kid and the reason for her always wearing long sleeves. Wendy is a compassionate and loyal girl, she cares about people and has no problems getting in trouble to protect someone. If one is a friend, she will stick by that person no matter what happens. Which isn’t always the best thing. She will forgive just about anything, she’s forgiven her father for a lot more than she believes she’ll ever have to forgive anyone else for. This can also lead to her being extremely gullible. It is easy to take advantage of her forgiving nature if she has decided to trust that person. She wants to believe in them, so she will, even after multiple instances where she shouldn’t. Due to her past, she is insecure of herself. She has a hard time believing she can be cared about, even after going to live with her godmother. She doesn’t let it show, but it’s part of the reason she can be so gullible, she wants to belong. Even though she wants to belong, she has a hard time trusting people which can make others believe she’s very cold and rude at times. When she gets angry, she goes ice cold rather than being a fiery hot-head. She doesn’t pick fights, despite not being afraid of getting in one to protect someone, she is the type to give someone the cold shoulder or use verbal jabs to express her anger for herself. Wendy can also be competitive when it comes to things she’s good at, she feels she needs to be the best at those things and hates it when someone thinks they’re better than her. If she’s playing a game, she can be a sore loser.
Dislikes: Bullies, Presents, Lies, Homework, and Being Coerced to do something she doesn’t want to
Habits/Mannerisms:Bites her lip, waves her hands when she’s stressed, and tugs at her sleeves
Strengths: Honest, Loyal, Compassionate, Forgiving, and Independent
Weaknesses: Competitive, Judgemental, Cold, Insecure, and Gullible
|(Trigger warning: Car accident resulting in Death of a parent, Child Abuse) Grace Osborn and Nicholas Barnes didn’t know each other very well when they found out they were pregnant. In fact, they had only been together for three months when she realized. Grace had been going to college in America, originally from London, and found this cute troubled young man. They weren’t serious though, and she quickly found out that Nicholas had been cheating on her. She thought maybe, just maybe, he would be there for his child but he took off. Grace went back to England, to her best friend Natalie who was all she had left. A few months later, Nicholas turned up, curious to see if his child had been born yet. They got into a huge fight as Grace didn’t want him anywhere near her daughter when he didn’t actually want anything to do with her. She didn’t know why he was there but she definitely didn’t trust him. He wouldn’t leave her alone and they ended up getting into a screaming match on the street. She went into labor and they went to the hospital. Since Nicholas was there, she didn’t get a chance to keep him from putting his name on the birth certificate. They had a baby girl that Grace named Wendy, making sure that the child had her name rather than his. Nicholas stuck around for a few days but quickly grew bored and decided to see what was out in London to keep him occupied. Grace made Natalie the Godmother of Wendy, she was the only one that she would possibly trust with her daughter. The first few years of Wendy’s life were pretty simple. Grace and Natalie were always around and even though Grace didn’t have much money, she was able to provide a nice life. Nicholas showed up once or twice but it was only a bump in the otherwise happy road. Wendy had her first bout of accidental magic at a young age, which scared Grace as she was a muggle. The next time Nicholas came around, she questioned him and found out he was a wizard. She was obviously floored with the information. She was walking home, trying to come to terms with the fact that her daughter was a witch. She wasn’t paying attention and got hit by a drunk driver. She died instantly and Wendy was sent to live with her father. Natalie fought for custody, it was what Grace had wanted after all, but Nicholas was on the birth certificate. Nicholas took her back to America, where he had a family he could dump the girl at and not have Natalie reminding him what a pathetic excuse for a father he was. For a while they seemed to get on okay, he was still pretty much an absentee father but Wendy was growing up alright. Eventually, his parents got sick of him not growing up and demanded he take in his daughter to be a father to her. Thing was, Nicholas had a drinking problem which also became a rage problem. It wasn’t long before Wendy learned how to hide bruises and other such problems. Wendy went to school, had a few friends, and took care of her father throughout her childhood. She learned how to hide and keep things looking like they were perfectly satisfactory and it was the only lie she ever told. Throughout this time, Natalie had been looking for her, trying to find her goddaughter. It wasn’t until Nicholas took it too far and sent Wendy to the hospital when she was nine that Natalie finally found her. Natalie fought for custody and won. She immediately took Wendy back to England and filed a restraining order on Nicholas. Wendy finally got the chance to be a normal kid for a while, though some of the other kids found it very odd that she never went swimming with them or wore short sleeves. When her letter came at eleven, both Natalie and Wendy were hesitant about the young girl going off to live at a boarding school after being separated for so many years but it was something they had to do. Wendy went to Hogwarts and was sorted into Hufflepuff which she found she liked the fit of. The whole place felt like one little family, though not the whole school. She made some new friends and found she was actually pretty good at the whole magic thing. She was a little surprised to find she enjoyed Potions the most, especially after hearing a lot of other students say it was their worst class. Her third year, she decided that her electives would be Divination and Magical Theory, she wanted to know everything she possibly could about magic, after growing up as a muggle. Going into her fourth year, she was content to stick with what she knew, and her own tiny set of friends. She knew there were a lot in her year that had been branching out in the last year and she had thought about doing a little branching of her own but she hadn’t gotten up the courage quite yet. Who knows, maybe this would be her year.|
