There are plenty of jobs at the Ministry, in a variety of departments, each that comes with their own special talents and requirements. Any job you take on at the Ministry will be filled with excitement and new challenges. Feel free to peruse the job listings and make your decision!

Minister's Office

Department of Law Enforcement

Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes

Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures

Department of International Magical Cooperation

Department of Magical Transportation

Department of Magical Games and Sports

Department of Mysteries

Other Offices

Minister's Office

The Minister of Magic
The Minister of Magic is an elected official, similar to the Prime Minister or President, that is the highest ranking member of the Ministry. The Minister oversees trials, laws, foreign affairs, and all other things that need decision making. A highly public post, the Minister is the face of Britain. His or her actions are what will reflect on the country in the future.

Advisor to the Minister of Magic
A position created ad hoc by the Minister himself, anyone the Minister appoints for whatever duty he considers to be important, be it corresponding with the Muggle Prime Minister or making treaties with the centaur.

Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic
This person is responsible for the day-to-day routine affairs of the Ministry. Not appointed by the Minister, but rather, loyal to the Ministry as an institution. The Senior Undersecretary is a civil servant who is responsible for looking at Ministry budgets, and making sure each department is doing it's job correctly.

Junior Assistant to The Minister of Magic
This is a high-ranking post for a youth, generally one with strong grades, that assists the Minister of Magic in their daily job. A glorified secretarial position, but with many doors that will open having this under your resume. Just hope your boss is willing to give you the credit you deserve. This post is selected by the Minister of Magic.

Department of Magical Law Enforcement

The Auror Office
To be an Auror is not an easy thing. Aurors are the equivalent to America’s FBI team, or the United Kingdom’s MI5. Applying to be an Auror, not only does one need excellent NEWT scores, but Aurors will pass rigorous personality and mental health evaluations. An Auror’s job is to hunt down and capture Dark Wizards. Once a Criminal is captured, they are handed over to the authorities. Aurors can also be enlisted by the Ministry to guard high profile targets. To become an Auror, there is a three-year training program, which is highly difficult and intensive. The Head Auror is in charge of delegating cases, managing the paper work, and managing the Auror team in their tasks. Aurors are a highly coveted position and there are limits. Please check the limits before applying as an Auror.

Need: 5 NEWTS, highly recommended are Potions, DADA, Herbology, Transfiguration and Charms. Nothing below an E. No Criminal Record.

Hit Wizards
Members of the Hit Wizard contingent are what one considers the equivalent of the SWAT team. They’re highly trained, and have a permanent bed reserved at St. Mungo’s Hospital. This is a highly dangerous career, however, you’re guaranteed a seven hundred galleon per month salary, as well as a broomstick upon starting.

Need: Must have at least five OWLS, one in DADA

Witch Watchers
Undercover cop needed? Turn to the Witch Watchers. A Witch Watcher is usually someone stationed at a strategic location and they watch presumable criminals. This is a highly dangerous position! Anyone in this job should remember they risk DEATH if caught.

Need: Must have at least three NEWTs, one in DADA.

The Magical Law Enforcement Patrol
The members of said contingent are you’re regular cops, the ones who patrol the streets, deal with your regular criminals. These are the ones who handle your regular, conventional law enforcement tasks – NOT DARK WIZARDS, THAT IS ONLY AURORS, and vice versa. An Auror is not dealing with your swindling junkie, nor is a MLEP dealing with your mass murderer.

Need: Must have at least five OWLS, three NEWTS (one NEWT in DADA). An understanding of the law.

The Improper Use of Magic Office
This Office is responsible for managing magic, making sure that the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery and the International Confederation of Wizard’s Statute of Secrecy is upheld. The first decree ensures underage wizards and witches aren’t performing magic out of school, while the second prevents the use of magic in the presence of Muggles or in a Muggle inhabited area. Animagi are also registered at this office, with all distinguishing traits and features, and the registry is open to anyone who requires it.

Members of office are in charge of sending notes for minor offences, processing cases for major offences to be sent to the Wizengamot. They investigate illegal, not criminal, offense of magic. Criminal offenses fall under the Auror Offices domain. This office also has a Head, Commander in-chief, and general members of office.

The Administrative Registration Department
This department is responsible for the registration of the Wizarding population. People employed here are census-takers. Little formal education is required, the jobs are likely temporary, and this would be a subdivision of the Improper Use of Magic Office.

The Department of Intoxicating Substances
Members regulate the laws of alcohol drugs consumption. Underage drinking (In this case, “Underage” applies to anyone below the age of 18), illegal drugs, anything that can classify as an intoxicating substance falls under this department’s jurisdiction. They’d be the ones to go to file for warrants and to process laws.

The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office
This office regulates the use of magic on Muggle objects. They try to keep bewitched objects out of muggle hands, and upholding the law against enchanting a muggle with the intent to use it for a purpose it wasn’t intended for (i.e flying car, garbage crushing toilets, rubber ducky bombs). They are also likely to collaborate with the Department of Magical Transportation’s Portkey Office, to prevent muggles from taking rubbish that could be a portkey, as well as to register objects that circumvent traditional law. At most, there’s a man in charge, and one employee in this department, that manage the paperwork and run raids to collect the objects and remove the changes to the object once the criminal has been found by the MLEP. The members of this office cannot arrest, that falls to the MLEP’s jurisdiction. It’s underpaid, understaffed, and has long hours that may lead to further promotion some day, but not immediately.

The Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects
Unlike the rest of the ministry, steeped in tradition, this department is fairly young, created at the advent of the Second Wizarding War, and is a department that operates at a slightly higher level than the Office for the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts. This Department is tasked with eliminating Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects, as well as the capture and prosecution of those making, selling and distributing them. Unlike most, they can arrest suspected criminals, though they’d need to obtain the proper warrants. Expect to see an increase of hours if you take this job on, particularly as terrorism in the United Kingdom seems to be picking up. A Head of Department and regular employees are usually employed, in times of crises surging up to almost twelve.

The Wizengamot
Chief Warlock
Acts as the impartial executive figure over the court, similar to the Queen over the British and Commonwealth parliaments. Generally, members holding this position are older, well-respected and well-established in the Wizarding World.
The Body of the Wizengamot
The Wizengamot is Wizarding Britain’s court of Law, going as far back as the medieval Wizard’s Council. Entrenched in ancient traditions, the headquarters are now located in the DMLE, though trials take place in the lower levels. During trials, members wear plum-colored robes with a silver ‘W’ embroidered onto the robe. The Wizengamot has about fifty members, with the Minister of Magic having some say in the selection process. By virtue of their position, the Minister, the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, and the Head of the DMLE preside over the Wizengamot, with the Chief Warlock acting as an impartial executive figure. Trials are brief and concise, witnesses allowed to speak for the accused, lawyers allowed speak on the behalf of the defendant.
Court Scribe: Acts as stenographer during the trials, likely to also be a member of WAS.
The Wizengamot Administration Services
An office located on Level 2, the WAS undertakes the general day-to-day clerical duties for the Wizengamot, similar to Muggle court registries. Jobs include regular office members, who are in charge of maintaining court documents, hearing dates, judges schedule and administration of legal proceedings. All documents go under this department, are processed, and the equivalent letters are sent out.

Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes

Accidental Magic Reversal Squad
This is an organized squad or team of wizards and witches who correct magical mishaps, namely potions or spells, but any other number of mistakes go under their jurisdiction. Typically these mistakes correlate to accidental magic or underage messes. This team typically consists of one Leader, and several squad members.

Need: NEWT in Charms and Transfiguration

Obliviator Headquarters
Often working closely with the DMLE and the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. While Obliviate is a regular charm, it’s not advised for anyone but Professionals to do it, as they have the skills required to edit memories without deleting the important bits.

Need: NEWT in Charms.

Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee
This committee creates the explanations for the Muggle Community to hide away any magical accidents or occurrences that cannot be obliviated or magically erased.

Need: Understanding of Muggles

Invisibility Task Force
What exactly is tour job? Hide magical creatures and places from the wizarding world. Some Muggles are seeking a Lochness Monster? Go prevent them from finding him. Furthermore, these people are experts in hiding the Magical locations, such as Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, etc. Basically, these are Disillisionment Charms and sneaks acting on a wide-scale level.

Need: NEWT in Charms.

Muggle Liason Office
The Muggle Liason Office is responsible for Muggle-Wizard Relations, managing public relations, laws, and general muggle awareness. How successful are they in that list bit? Well, wizards are still not quite sure how muggles dress…

Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures

Beast Division
This one of the three divisions under the the department, and it deals with all the magical creatures classified as “Beasts”. Beasts are considered to be highly vicious, dangerous animals with little to no intelligent thought. This includes Werewolves (in their transformed state), Centaurs, Dragons, Ghouls and more. For a more comprehensive idea, please see Here. General members of office will have to deal with a variety of these creatures and any issues they stir up. Laws are regulated and monitored within these hallowed walls.

Centaur Liason Office
A sub department of the Beast Division, this office has never, ever been used by Centaurs. Ever. In fact, it’s a common phrase among the ministry that “being sent to the Centaur Office” generally means sacked. Nobody works here. If you’re employed here, well, you’re not being paid and this is a dream you paid up.

Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures
Disposal. Execution. Same deal. These are the people who decide if a creature is dangerous and then the Executioner delivers death.

Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau
This Bureau is responsible for all things dragon. Anything that the Ministry of Magic is doing that’s dragon-related comes under this department’s jurisdiction. Laws, proposals, grants, and more are determined and judged by members of this office.

Ghoul Task Force
The Ghoul Busters. Got a Ghoul problem? Call these peeps to eliminate the problem. Of course, what exactly is a ghoul? See Here.

Werewolf Registry
All werewolves are registered here. Mandatory to sign-up after being bitten, though not all werewolves do. In that case, well, the Werewolf Capture Unit is given free reign to capture any werewolf deemed to be a threat. They may work in tandem with other departments depending on the case, but these are your experts.

Being Division
The second sub-department, all creatures classified as Beings are monitored under this department. Beings are any creature that are intelligent enough to understand the laws of the magical community and follow them. Humans, Goblins, Hags, Vampires, Veela, House-Elves, and werewolves (When not transformed) are given this status. For more, see Here . General members of office will have to deal with a variety of these creatures and any issues they stir up. Laws are regulated and monitored within these hallowed walls.

Goblin Liason Office
This is the section of the department that takes care of the magical economy, particularly keeping the relationships with Goblins and Wizards from boiling over into a ‘whodunnit’ scenario. Don’t be fooled, anyone who runs this office is highly gifted in the art of politics, and is well respected. It’s a vied for post.

Office for House-Elf Relocation
House-Elf been given clothes? This tedious job requires you to sell and barter house elves, oversee their care. Thanks to the concern of one Hermione Granger, S.P.E.W is integrated into this post, and the well-being of House Elves is also a concern. Try to prevent abuse as best as you can.

Spirit Division
This division, like it’s predecessors deals with all things ‘Spirit’, which means ghosts. Really, this used to be an office of the Being department until some ghosts kicked up a fuss. Need to move some ghosts around? Too bad ghosts are picky as shit. This department is just there to deal with them and beg.

Pest Advisory Board
Your day to day problems with pests such as Bundimun, Chizpurflies, and Nogtails. This department is your every day exterminator. Need a Doxy gone? They’ll take care of it for you. They also keep a dozen albino bloodhounds on hand just to deal with Nogtails. So, someone better be ready to deal with all those dogs.

Office of Misinformation
Who do you think is covering up all the potential problems with Muggles? Working closely with the Muggle Liason office and the Muggle Worthy Excuses Committee, the Office of Misinformation works to cover all those disasters that magical creatures can create. Dementors? Lots of fog guys, just chill. Loch Ness monster? Oh that’s fake, check the internet sites we put up? Weird fire-breathing object? Obviously an airplane crashed.

Department of International Magical Cooperation

International Magical Trading Standards Body
This group is an office that’s in charge trading practices within the wizarding world, namely, watching them and making the economical prediction. Furthermore, members of office pass international legislation regarding trading standards. If Economics are your forte, this is the place to go.

International Magical Office of Law
This office monitors International Law, as set by the International Confederation of Wizards. They provide the Britain’s Minister of Magic and Wizengamot with advice on international law, to prevent contradictions between British Magical Law and the global laws set forth. While the DMLE actually enforces the law, this office would be the one making and advising them on said laws.

International Confederation of Wizards
This is a wizarding, intergovernmental organization that is basically the United Nations. The British Seat is selected by the Minister of Magic, however, approval is given by the Wizengamot. The Confederation is headed by the Supreme Mugwump. Created in 1692 to hide Wizards from the Muggle world, The ICW creates all International Wizarding Laws and is expected to be followed.

Department of Magical Transportation

Floo Network Authority
The Floo Network Authority does exactly what it says on the tin. Employees have the power to monitor all Floo connections, pass the paperwork along, and establish any new Floo Networks. Also, these people have no concern for privacy. If you sign up for the Floo Network, you’re fireplace can be monitored by them, including where you went and what conversations you had. Those employees are Floo Network Regulators.

Broom Regulatory Control
The Authority and Expert behind the brooms. If a broom is determined dangerous or tampered with, this office can confiscate your broom. All shop keeps would have to pass inspection from these ladies and gents.

Portkey Office
The regulators and authorities on all things Portkeys. They get to decide exactly what objects are Portkeys, create them, and send them off.

Apparition Test Centre
The office that grants Apparition licenses to those qualified. Your Apparition Professor has to be certified by this department, and likely works for them. Any other officials are testers and paper pushers. No Apparition license can land you a heavy fine for Apparating, and if you get splinched, zero sympathy. Licensed patrons, however, will get sympathy. Department of Magical Games and Sports

Department of Magical Games and Sports

British and Iris Quidditch League Headquarters
The entire league falls under this division’s responsibility. They organize the annual competitions, as well as arrange the matches and the players who participate. They determine what sort of paraphernalia is safe for the arenas. Players fall under this division’s jurisdiction, and any players who violate good sportsmanship can and will be kicked off their team by this department and banned from the League. Think of them as your NFL or NHL or whatever sport thing you like, the people who organize that.

The Official Gobstones Club
Same as Quidditch but with Gobstones, basically. The nerdier wizard’s outlet.

Ludicrous Patents Office
What exactly is a ludicrous patent? Even this office doesn’t know. They just deal with anything deemed “ludicrous”. Always in for a surprise, I suppose.

Department of Mysteries

Unlike other Departments, only one office exists and that’s Unspeakables. This Department carries out Confidential Research, most operations carried out in total secrecy, and few know what actually goes on here. Hence the name. However, various world mysteries, such as space, thought, time, death and love are studied here. Intriguing, perhaps, but not everyone’s cup of tea. THESE ARE NOT SCIENTISTS PLAYING WITH POTIONS. These are people who study god knows what, for who knows why, and don’t ever speak about it ever. They don’t INVENT anything. They’re studying things that ALREADY EXIST and formulating theories. Most of their work is THEORETICAL.

Other Offices

The Committee on Experimental Charms
Unlike the Unspeakables, this Committee oversees the use and development of experimental Charms. This is where your science fellow belongs. Any Charms related study, experimentations, etc, this department is taking care of that. Known studies inclue where Atmospheric Charms should be used on the environment, charming horns onto creatures, and more.

Magical Maintenance Department
Janitorial work has to be done by someone. These fellows maintain the upkeep of the Ministry, including deciding the weather to display in the windows and repairing any magic gone wrong. Lift maintance, fireplace cleaning, all those lovely things. Don’t get on their bad side or your windows will be clapping down hail storms.

Ministry of Magic Public Information Services
Making all the Pamphlets the Ministry hands out on a daily basis. Writing, reading, proofreading and eventually recycling.

Wizarding Examinations Authority
The testers that come to examine students during their O.W.L’s and N.E.W.T’s as well as any body else who might be interested in taking their tests after graduation. Retesting is an option people!

Foreign Affairs and Sports Department
Not a real department, but one that crops up with the World Cup, and becomes a merger of the International Magical Cooperation Department

St. Mungo’s Jobs

Looking to work at St. Mungo's? Excited by diseases and injuries and blood and pus? This is where you should be! It's not an easy task, Healers require five NEWTS, with an E or an O in at least DADA, Charms, Herbology, Transfiguration and Potions, but with it comes the joy of long hours, coworkers who are just as competitive and whiny patients. But at least you get a stable salary?

Welcome Witch
This is the receptionist sitting at the counter at the entry of the Hospital, greeting visitors and directing them where to go.

Healers
A Healer is a wizarding world equivalent of a muggle doctor. It takes six years to complete the training to become a Healer, with trainees learning from Healers on their floor. A Healer can be solely responsible for Patient Care, passing on tasks equivalent to nursing to more advanced Trainee Healers, and grunt work to junior Trainee Healers.

Artefacts Accidents
Cauldron explosion? Wand backfired? Crashed that broomstick? Anything related to cursed magical objects, magical objects acting out of turn, and whatnot will land a patient on the Ground Floor. Healers would have a vast knowledge on these devices, as well as in Dark Magic as well as Cursed Objects.

Creature-Induced Injuries
Bites, stings, burns, pricks, teeth, pesky embedded spines and anything related to those nasty Creatures will land you here. Healers would also have a vast knowledge in Care of Magical Creatures.

Magical Bugs and Diseases
Those awful maladies such as Spattergroit, Dragon Pox, Vanishing Sicknes and Scrofungulus and whatever else comes your way is here. Magic has a habit of making it’s users sick, after all.

Potions and Plant Poisoning
The Herbology specialist and Potioneers are called to this ward, dealing with rashes, whatever inhaled fumes left that lady giggling too long, and anything related to those sort of injuries and infections.

Spell Damage
Addressing those unliftable jinxes, hexes, spells that just went wrong, and dark magic. Spell Damage primarily focuses on magic gone wrong because of a spell, which seems silly to say, but know your Charms and Dark Arts!

Tea Shop
There is a Tea Shop on the Fifth Floor of the Hospital, which caters to both the eating needs of Healers and Visitors alike.

Hospital Shop
What’s a Hospital without a gift shop? Purchase all patient necessities here on the Fifth Floor.

Hogwarts Jobs

Professors, Caretakers, Groundskeepers and more are required at the wonderful school of Hogwarts! Below is a list of the requirements to become one or the other.

Professor
Professors are a VERY IMPORTANT job in the TNI game. To be a Professor on TNI, you are both a STAFF MEMBER as well as a character. As a result, members have had to been active players for 2 months, with over 50 posts on site. This cannot be your FIRST character either. Your character as well as yourself must have knowledge of the subject you're teaching, be organized, punctual and able to commit to delivering lessons once a month. You would have your own forum to manage. Further information is here

Caretaker
Caretaker is the title and occupation held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry by a witch, wizard, or Squib in charge of overseeing the cleanliness and hygiene of Hogwarts Castle. Aside from this, they may patrol the corridors at night to make sure that no students wander in the late hours. In the past, they were also in charge of corporal punishment (e.g. caning) until Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, banned it. However, the job does still entail helping to oversee punishments.
Some jobs that caretakers do include:
Enforce hygiene of the school and the students
Patrol corridors for students out of bed after hours or in forbidden areas
Doling out punishment (formerly)
Put students in detention
Do jobs that the Headmaster requires
Investigating things such as Dungbombs or mayhem
Be in charge of security for Hogsmeade trips, mail, people entering the castle, and people leaving

Keeper of Keys and Grounds
This is a wizard employed by the school of Hogwarts to tend to and look after the Grounds, as well as the security of the castle. Some jobs that Groundskeepers do include:
Looking after the school keys
Escorting First Year students on the boats to the castle
Tending to the gardens at Hogwarts
Performing Tasks for the Professors and Headmaster
Tending to matters in the Forbidden Forest
Bringing the Twelve Christmas Trees into the Castle during December
Defrosting the school brooms during the winter
Growing the pumpkins for the Halloween Feast

Other Jobs

Nothing quite fitting the mould you had in mind? Here are some extraneous options! Remember you can mix and match jobs, and if you have any suggests just PM a staff member and we can add them onto this list.

Magizoologist
A person who studies magical creatures, and can also be referred to as Wizarding Naturalists. They are your go to people in Care of Magical Creatures.

Dragonologist: A Magizoologist who specializes in the study of Dragons.

Dragon Tamer: A person who specializes in the illegal trade of dragon parts - Definitely a job that you can get in trouble for.

Cursebreaker
Wizards and witches who are tasked with disabling and countering curses from old history, often in tombs and sites guarding treasure. Somewhat similar to muggle archaeologists, however, with more explosions. Many will often be employed by Gringott's in Diagon Alley, however, there will be a few working freelance. It is said to be a very dangerous and serious profession, in which a wizard or witch could be killed as a result of an old curse, jinx, or hex. An O.W.L. in Arithmancy is required, as some banking and transacting will be done. Also, presumably, N.E.W.Ts in Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Transfiguration, and Charms would be necessary, given the dangerous aspects of the job, as well as one in Ancient Runes.

Arithmancer
A wizard or witch with a specialty in Arithmancy, using complicated number charts to make predictions. Perhaps employed with a shop, or even a news agency, making horoscopes and predictions of all sorts. Or even just an independent Arithmancer.

Wandmaker
A person who specializes in the craft of making wands, and will likely be affiliated with a store or name.

Broom Maker
A person who specializes in the craft of making brooms, and likely is affiliated with a particular make or model, or even a potential store.

Potioneer
A potioneer is someone with the talent of making and selling potions, and is likely associated with a shop or may work in conjunction someplace.

Professional Quidditch
A player on a Professional Quidditch team is likely with a small amount of fame and a tense season of playing against other players. The level of talent is entirely up to you. Playing at the bottom with the Cannons? A member of the Arrows at the top of the League? Or middling in between? See the results, and peruse Wanted Ads to see which teams are active! Or start with a new team completely afresh!

Rockster
Your character a living legend in the industry? Someone aiming to get big with music, or perhaps already there? Is this person a member of a Weird Sisters type band? The next Stubby Boardman? Or maybe the Celestina Warbeck of this age? Ether way, lots of options, lots of creativity here to explore.

Reporter
There are several reputable places to work! The Daily Prophet as a hard hitting journalist! The Quibbler, writing up opinion pieces that well, aren't always the most accurate. Or maybe you're a Witch Weekly Tabloid reporter? What sort of journalist would you want to take on?

Daily Prophet: Several posts are an option at the Daily Prophet. Treat this as a regular newspaper, posting articles on the Ministry, on Current Events, Horoscopes, advice columns (such as Ask D. Shaman, Dr. Medusa, and so forth), and whatever else you can come up with. Members of the Prophet likely are employed at the Daily Prophet Main Office.

Witch Weekly: This is your teenage witch's dream magazine. Keeping up to date on all those pesky celebrities, the latest fashion trends, and all the gossip of the Wizarding World. Advice columns galore.

Quibbler: An eclectic magazine publishing, well, just about anything. Got an opinion that nobody seems to be taking seriously? The Quibbler will put you on the front page.

Herbologist
A herbologist is a wizard or witch who is a specialist in the field of herbology. Pomona Sprout and Neville Longbottom were both Professors of Herbology at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, while Tilden Toots was a celebrity herbologist in the wizarding world. Herbologists are tasked with raising various plants, studying their properties. Sometimes found working at shops, they can also be found working with Healers or Potioneers.

Mediwizard
Similar to Healers, however, more likely to arrive on sight at an injury location, like your average Paramedic or family doctor. Mediwizards can be employees of St. Mungo's or work alone. Medwizards are unlike Healers who are trained in expert fields, and have less knowledge of particular incidents, but can handle general or Emergency Care.

Metal Charmer
A Metal charmer is a profession in the wizarding world. Seemingly uncommon, Metal-Charmers are responsible for imbuing metalcraft with certain magical properties via Charms. Since magical spells usually disengage once the caster dies, Metal-Charmers work their metal in such a way where the Magic infused in them remains even after post-mortem. Naturally, magical objects like Golden Snitches and Sneakoscopes are made by them.
